The sling is off!  Yippee!  I want to thank all of the students for helping me open my water bottles and reaching across tables for me.  They have been troopers.  My rehab will last a few more months and there are days when that is rough but it is better than the alternative.
   November has us focusing on retelling stories with important details and identifying the main idea.  We will also learn to organize our writing for our readers using words like, first, second, next, after that and finally.  Of course we will edit our written work for proper capitalization, punctuation and the spelling of word wall words.
     In math we will understand that two digits of a two digit number represent amounts of tens and ones.  We will add and subtract within 20 to solve word problems including unknowns.  We will also check our understanding of the equal sign given various equations to determine if they are true or false.
    Our science units include safety tips regarding germs, comparing the ways objects/materials move and observing their properties.
     We will listen to how individuals and groups share and borrow from other cultures and we will observe and describe ways that people of different cultures meet their needs and contribute to the community.
