Number sense!

We are counting, counting, counting!  We are exploring the value of numbers using blocks, scales and dots.  What number (s) come before, after and between given numbers.  Number lines and 100 charts are helpful but we need to show the answer using a variety of manipulatives as well.  It is important for us to know that a 3 in the tens place is NOT the same as a 3 in the ones place.

Math lessons

We have collected data, made tally charts, pictographs and bar graphs using the data.   A couple more lessons making bar graphs is needed.  We also need more practice making statements about the graphs, e.g., "How many more... the least...who has fewer....etc. "  

 Then we'll review numeration and place value concepts by counting a variety of manipulatives, grouping them, identifying and locating the number on a 120 chart.  We'll be asking questions like what number comes before, after, betwee...
