Odds and Ends

It's almost Thanksgiving and we're finishing up our social studies unit about 'culture'.
We will continue to focus on identifying an author's/poets message or main idea using identified important details.
We'll be identifying adjectives and their synonyms and how and why authors use certain words vs. other ones with similar meanings. We'll do this with verbs as well.
We will be learning to present our animal information obtained using Pebble Go in an ActiveInspire (Promethean board software) flipchart. Our 'report' will be interactive!
In math we continue to solve problems in many ways and to create our own word problems. How the question is phrased really makes a difference! We are also solving addition and subtraction facts using doubles and doubles plus one; knowing all the ways 10 can be made and using that knowledge to solve near 10 facts. IT'S OKAY TO PRACTICE ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION FACTS TO 20 AT HOME TOO!
